The Tuesday and Wednesday races of the Borrufa Trophy are moved to the El Tarter sector of Grandvalira.
The 34th edition of the Borrufa Trophy officially got underway today with the opening ceremony held this afternoon in the Plaça Major of Ordino, with all delegations and nearly 250 participants in attendance. The event featured speeches by the Mayor of Ordino, Maria del Mar Coma, and the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports of the Government of Andorra, Alain Cabanes, who wished the athletes success during the three days of competition at this year's Borrufa Trophy. Prior to this, the traditional parade of skiers took place in the village of Ordino.
The competition will begin tomorrow with a change of program and location. Due to recent heavy snowfall in Ordino Arcalís and the difficulty of accessing the Ordino Arcalís station by road, as well as challenges in preparing the different courses in time for tomorrow morning's competition, the Borrufa Trophy organizers have opted for a change of venue. Tomorrow's and Wednesday's races will be moved to the Esparver slope in the El Tarter sector of Grandvalira. Starting at 10 a.m., the U14 giant slalom will kick off, with the category only racing one run. Afterwards, the U16 slalom will take place as scheduled, with both runs being held. The prize ceremony will take place at the same El Tarter sector slope after the second run ends.
On Wednesday, the Esparver slope will once again host the races, starting with the U14 slalom, which will run a single run from 10 a.m. Afterwards, the U16 giant slalom will be held with two runs, and finally, the podium ceremonies will take place on the same slope. In contrast, the National Team Event scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Canaro is cancelled. Lastly, Thursday will go ahead as planned with the U14 and U16 super-G races at Ordino Arcalís, as well as the closing ceremony and prize giving in the Plaça Major of Ordino (4:30 p.m.).
