FIS 'Snow control' positive for the Àliga slope of the Andorra 2026 World Cup

The teams from France, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, and Andorra will train next week in Grandvalira, taking advantage of the good conditions of the slope

The International Ski Federation (FIS) gave its approval at noon today through the snow control for the competition venue that will host three races of the world’s greatest skiing event on February 27 and 28, and March 1. The Àliga course meets the required standards to host the downhill and super-G speed events. Specifically, snow samples were analyzed at four points along the Àliga slope. The snow density indicators and grain size are currently "optimal and in line with FIS requirements", according to snow area technical director, Nico Fornes.

Race director Santi López led the inspection, accompanied by chief of slope Oriol Cusidó, head of machinery Robert Lindsey, and general secretary Marc Mitjana, under the supervision of Jordi Pujol representing the FIS.

Start of preparations on the competition slope

Preparations at the competition venue are already underway. In a season marked by frequent snowfall, work has progressed steadily: the machinery team has intensified the conditioning of the slope, while the ski patrol has already begun installing safety nets along its entire length.

Starting tomorrow, some of the skiers who will compete in the Andorra World Cup will train on the Àliga slope. Specifically, the teams from France, the United States, Italy, Switzerland, and Andorra (Jordina Caminal), who have taken advantage of the optimal course conditions to thoroughly prepare for the next big event following their participation in the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games.
