Climate Change and Emissions

  • ECF 2018: first CO₂ emissions assessment conducted at a European-level event.
  • WCF 2019: total CO₂ emissions calculated at 2,913 tCO₂.
  • WCF 2023: 19.4% reduction compared to 2019, with offsetting through national-level projects.
  • WC 2024: an additional 32% reduction compared to 2023, with offsetting through national-level projects.

Energy

  • Use of 100% certified renewable energy (Llum Verda).
  • Implementation of improvement plans and recommendations to enhance energy efficiency in tents, hotels and facilities.
  • Installation of solar rooftops for on-site energy self-generation in the Soldeu sector.

Water Footprint

  • Snow production adjusted to actual operational needs.
  • 24/7 monitoring of ecological water flows.
  • Hydro-biological study carried out in collaboration with the University of Lleida.
  • Implementation of the  SNOWsat system to optimise slope preparation, maintenance and water resource management, achieving a 30% saving in water resources used.

  • Adapted routes tailored to each venue, with on-demand support provided by the sustainability volunteer team.
  • Parl’App QR signage, delivering information in sign language in multiple languages (over 1,200 scans during WC 2024).
  • Official event website with EQUALWEB, an AI-powered platform that ensures digital accessibility and automatically corrects navigation barriers.
  • Spectator guide adapted to different needs.
  • Inclusive communication through social media and media channels.

Inclusion

  • Solidarity initiatives “The mountain comes to you”: Soldeu El Tarter has established itself as a benchmark for accessible snow sports, celebrating World Snow Day with adapted skiing and mushing activities for children with disabilities.
  • Active participation of people with diverse abilities and collaboration with non-profit organisations in the country.
  • Volunteer teams specifically trained to support people with disabilities.

Mobility

  • Free public transport for volunteers and the public (WCF 2023 – WC 2024).
  • Promotion of carsharing and the use of sustainable vehicles.

Local Development

  • Presence of local producers in Hospitality and Village areas.
  • Km 0 products provided to athletes.
  • Participation of the Fundació Privada Nostra Senyora de Meritxell in the World Cup Village 2023 and 2024.
  • Collaboration with i&i Serveis, a company that produced more than 400 exclusive items for the event, providing employment to 6 people within its promotional and gift item production line.
