Sofia Goggia retains her Super-G crown on the Àliga slope in the Grandvalira ski area
Italy’s Sofia Goggia won the second Super-G (SG) of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Andorra 2026 that was disputed on the Àliga in El Tarter on Sunday. In a time of 1:25.95, the downhill queen has strengthened her grip on the lead in the discipline moving a little closer to her first Super-G Crystal Globe, while second-placed Alice Robinson, was unable to get amongst the top three finishing in seventh. Second and third positions went to Germany’s Emma Aicher (+0.24) – who rounded off a strong weekend with her 4th place in the downhill today having won yesterday’s first Super-G – and Norway’s Lie Kajsa Vickhoff (+0.31).
Goggia was very happy to come away getting the win on Sunday: “I had to ski at my maximum to get the points back that I lost yesterday, and I was able to be more accurate through the central section and that made a difference for me.” For her part, Emma Aicher also voiced her satisfaction with the part she played over the three days, and highlighted the fact that the Àliga slope is “a great slope and one that is very fun to compete on”. The third-placed racer, Kajsa Vickhoff, explained that in the last few races she has been making small improvements and is starting to believe in herself again to the point where “today I was able to attack and I loved that. It was incredible”.
Today, the Andorran representative, Jordina Caminal, was able to successfully complete the Super-G course, coming in in 49th place. Caminal described these last few days as incredible and wanted to thank everyone, “the volunteers, the workers, the organisation and all the spectators.” She also expressed her desire “to be able to compete once again in Andorra soon and to be given more World Cup events, both in the speed and technical disciplines, because I think we are a reference point on the circuit”.
After the two Super-G competitions that took place in Andorra, the standings in the discipline are still led by Goggia, on 420 points, followed by Alice Robinson, on 336. Meanwhile, third spot, which was still being occupied by Lindsey Vonn before the Grandvalira World Cup event started, has now been taken by Emma Aicher, on 304 points.
The skiers also want World Championships
When it comes to the possibility of Andorra finally being able to fulfil the dream of hosting an Alpine World Ski Championships, Sofia Goggia made it clear that she would love to have that opportunity because “I really like Andorra. The organisation is perfect and I am very fond of the course”.
Norway’s Lie Kajsa Vickhoff stated that “it’s the best World Cup I've seen all year and I would say the best in my career; the hospitality for the team is incredible and the conditions are spectacular”, so “all my appreciation goes to Andorra, which deserves to hold a World Championships”.
Also, Federica Brignone, who finished in eighth position today, said that for her it would be great for a World Cup to be held here, because “I really like Andorra. It is one of my favourite venues”.
