Confirmed for this Tuesday, February 3rd, the first FIS Freeride World Championships in Ordino Arcalís
The Allianz FIS Freeride World Championships Andorra 2026 by Mammut will be held this Tuesday, February 3. The organizers have confirmed the competition date for this historic event. The first Freeride World Championships endorsed by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) will bring together 65 of the best freeride athletes—skiers and snowboarders—from 17 countries to compete for the historic title of FIS Freeride World Champion.
Exceptional snow conditions in recent days have left more than 150 cm of fresh snow in Ordino Arcalís, creating the ideal setting for this inaugural championship. At the heart of the event lies the legendary Basser Negre face (2,687 m), which returns as a competition freeride venue for the first time since 2018. Known for having witnessed some of the most memorable moments in Freeride World Tour history—such as the standout performance by Arianna Tricomi (ITA) in 2018 or Drew Tabke’s (USA) run that same year—the Basser Negre is a truly fitting stage for a historic event.
Ready to make history on the Basser Negre
With a vertical drop of 470 meters, a northeast aspect, and an average slope of 36° (reaching a maximum of 47°), the Basser Negre is perfectly suited for elite freeride competition.
The face is divided into three well-defined technical sections, offering multiple line options from top to bottom, including cliffs, exposed areas, and challenging transitions. This variety rewards creativity, fluidity, and confident decision-making, ensuring a first-class spectacle for the first World Championships in the history of this sport.
