Favourable ‘Snow control’ from the FIS for the Avet course for the Ski World Cup Soldeu 2024

The course that will host the world’s current best skiers meets the snow requirements that are needed by the International Ski Federation

The teams from France, the United States, Andorra and also Joan Verdú are all taking advantage of the slopes’ optimal conditions and training in the Grandvalira ski area this week

Green light for the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup Soldeu 2024. Today at midday, by carrying out the 'snow control' test the International Ski Federation (FIS) validated the competition venue that will host two races of the Great White Carnival on the 10th and 11th of February. The Avet course and its design meet the conditions and criteria required to host the Giant Slalom and Slalom technical competitions. Specifically, the current snow density and granulometry (particle size) indicators are reported as "excellent" by Chief of Race Santi López. And he added: “From the start gate to the finish of the course the snow is very uniform. This means that a tremendous job has been done because the snow density and firmness are very similar in all sections.” In a gesture of confidence, the FIS entrusted the organisation with the task of carrying out all the tests on the snow. Santi López carried out the task, along with race course heads David Fillet and Xoque Bellsolà, Secretary-General Marc Mitjana and Grandvalira ENSISA Deputy Chief of Engineers Robert Lindsey.

Until Saturday, the Avet course will be the venue for the training sessions of the teams from France, the United States, Andorra and also Joan Verdú, who is taking advantage of the course’s optimal conditions to prepare for his World Cup race in Bansko (Bulgaria). From Sunday, the slope will remain closed to be able to carry out the final preparations.
