An area for entertainment of more than 7,000m2 at the Women’s World Cup Soldeu 2024
The World Cup Village venue, which further extends the leisure and entertainment activities on offer compared to those at last year’s Finals, will occupy the entire Soldeu platform
L’Abarset will once again be the stage for the public draw for bib numbers, a unique opportunity to be close to the racers
The Women's Alpine World Ski Cup in Soldeu is not just a sporting event. The organisation has designed an ambitious program of activities running alongside the competitions to surprise and entertain all audience members, from the biggest ski fanatic to the most casual fan. One of the new features for this year is the expansion of the World Cup Village site, which will be spread out over the entire Soldeu platform for the whole weekend of the 10th and 11th of February, following the success of the initiative at the 2023 World Cup Finals.
The Ski Festival, which is what this fun and entertaining part of the event is called, will start on Friday the 9th of February at 18:30h with the public draw of bib numbers (Bib Draw), and will once again be held at L' Abarset (El Tarter sector in the Grandvalira ski area). It will be the moment when the public, from the youngest to the oldest, will be right up close to the athletes. There will be a highly emotive show, full of lights and sounds, that will be the stage for the drawing of the bibs for the 15 best racers in the world that will compete in the Giant Slalom the next day. As is usual, children from the different ski clubs in Andorra will be involved.
A World Cup Village, bigger than ever
When it comes to the World Cup Village, from 9:30h to 16:00h on both Saturday and Sunday, visitors will find an area of more than 7,000m² at the foot of the Avet slope. This is where there will be an exhibitor area with the best brands in snow and mountain sports (Blizzard, Tecnica, Nordica, Head, Rossignol, Dynastar, Volkl, K2, Atomic, etc.) that will organise free games and ski tests. This year, businesses in the snow sector that are firmly committed to sustainability will also feature, such as Nomad Face (sustainable sun cream) and Rip’N’Wood (wooden skis), among others.
The World Cup Village will also offer leisure activities in the form of games, workshops, crafts, archery, axe throwing, as well as an escape room for children for which prior registration is required. There will be dance shows by Líquid Dansa, DJ sessions, animation shows, autograph signing with the skiers, and a giant screen to follow the competition on the Avet course. There will also be the live connection with the races of Joan Verdú and Axel Esteve that are taking place in Bansko (Bulgaria).
One of the focal points of the World Cup Village will be the Social Point, a pop-up that will become the meeting point for ski fans that will incorporate the event’s official merchandising store; a space with activities to boost and promote the candidacy for the World Championships Andorra 2029; and an exclusive interactive World Cup space that will include various raffles, a talk on food and sport from the nutritionist for the World Cup, Marta Pons, as well as the participation of the Association of Women in Andorra (ADA), among others. Finally, there will also be a gastronomic area for all audience members that will be available throughout the day, which will include a food truck with products from Andorra and ''La Nomad'', the Grandvalira Food Ratrac (snow grooming machine), which will offer hot chocolate, broth and mulled wine.
The Ski Festival will be completed with the attractive après-ski program offered by L’Abarset from Wednesday the 7th of February, between 16:00h and 22:00h. The Ski Festival highlights will be the DJ Franky Rizardo, one of the top artists from the Dutch electronic scene, who will be performing on Saturday the 10th of February, and the Volunteers Party on the Sunday, which will bring the World Cup Soldeu 2024 to a close.
